This section aims to indicate the number of breast cancer surgeries performed and the outcomes using conservative techniques for each Public Breast Center nationwide.
In accordance with Ministerial Decree No. 70 of 2015, two indicators have been developed for breast cancer:
– Number of surgeries performed;
– Percentage of surgeries performed using conservative techniques.
The greater the number of surgeries performed by the healthcare facility, the greater the experience gained by the Breast Center.
National legislation has set the minimum threshold for the number of surgeries for this condition at 150 procedures/year. It is important to note that there are indicators developed by the National Outcomes Program (PNE), developed by AGENAS on behalf of the Ministry of Health, which provide information on the number of surgeries and their outcomes, in accordance with the aforementioned Decree.
The Find Facilities tool was developed to provide as much information as possible, allowing you to make a more informed choice about which facility to choose.
Your doctor can help you make a more informed and responsible choice and provide you with all the information you need for your health needs.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in industrialized Western countries.
Among the major and most significant risk factors are overweight, a sedentary lifestyle, diet, alcohol consumption, and smoking.
We remind women that early diagnosis of cancer favorably influences breast-conserving treatment and subsequent oncology treatment.
In this regard, we invite you to participate in free regional screening programs, which represent a model of public healthcare excellence.
