Stroke network

Filter by: ITALIA

The primary medical emergency affecting this organ is the occlusion (ischemic stroke) or rupture (hemorrhagic stroke) of cerebral vessels, which are treated by the Stroke Network through facilities located throughout Italy. Within this clinical area, the Find Facilities tool allows you to find information about the Stroke Network for both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, as well as the facilities where fibrinolysis can be performed. The facilities designated as Hubs and Spokes ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care and management. This section provides information on pathologies in this clinical area, such as cerebral aneurysms. The number of brain and nervous system surgeries performed in public and accredited private hospitals throughout Italy is listed for this pathology, with particular attention to unruptured cerebral aneurysms. It is important to note that there are indicators developed by the National Outcomes Program (PNE), developed by AGENAS on behalf of the Ministry of Health, that provide information on the number of operations and their outcomes. A specific indicator has been developed for this type of condition, indicating the number of operations performed for unruptured cerebral aneurysms. The greater the number of surgeries performed by the hospital, the greater the experience of the staff.

The Find Facilities tool was designed to provide you with as much information as possible about the services available in accredited public and private hospitals. In the “Facility Details” section, you can check the availability of “Transfusion Center” and “Intensive Care” services for each facility found. These services improve the timeliness of care in the event a patient requires blood and/or intensive care, thus avoiding the potential increase in critical situations related to the patient’s surgical procedures.
